What is coaching?
Coaching is a personalised and supportive approach that empowers individuals to discover their own solutions, develop skills, and modify attitudes and behaviors in a way that suits them best. The ultimate goal of coaching is to help you unlock your full potential in any area you choose.
Coaching is sought for various reasons. You may be contemplating your next career steps, facing challenges in the workplace, seeking to define your goals, or longing for a fresh start. No matter what your objectives are, coaching can assist you in identifying the most effective path to achieve them.
In coaching, you take the lead – deciding what you want to discuss, where you want to go, and how to get there. As your coach, my role is to provide a supportive environment and guidance, enabling you to find answers to your questions.
Coaching can support you to find ways to overcome a range of challenges, including:
Why I became a coach

After 18 years of full-time employment, I took a moment to reflect on my career choices and found myself feeling unhappy, underutilized, underpaid, and lacking motivation. I realized I had the potential to achieve much more and that my career goals from 20 years ago no longer aligned with my current aspirations and experiences. Along the way, I had repeatedly achieved those goals, overcoming personal and professional obstacles and supporting others on their own journeys.
This process of re-evaluation empowered me to change direction and pursue a new set of goals. These goals revolved around aspects of my career that brought me great joy and satisfaction:
- Writing about inspiring science and technology.
- Improving communications practices.
- Helping professionals overcome challenges to unlock their potential.
Throughout my career, I have coached and mentored others through career changes, growth, and day-to-day workplace challenges. Alongside working in research communications, I now also specialise in coaching professionals across various sectors.
