Oxford Academic Health Partners work independently across the University of Oxford, Oxford Brookes University, and Oxfordshire’s two NHS Trusts and the Academic Health Science Network to cultivate NHS-University partnerships that expand Oxfordshire’s capacity for health and care innovation, improved clinical training and cross-sector research.
Chaired by Professor Sir John Bell GBE and hosted in Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, OAHP was designated as one of eight academic health science centres by NHS England in early 2020.
The challenge
The OAHP required distinctive ways of talking to partners about what they do, their vision for health and care research in Oxfordshire, and the value of partnership working in Oxford’s world-renowned innovation ecosystem for health and care.
Approach
- Discovery session with the operational team to discuss communications and operational objectives and to brainstorm and map audiences and partners.
- Review of existing communications and engagement activities.
- Semi-structured interviews with a broad range of stakeholders and partners to gather insights and develop ideas.
- Desk research.
Deliverables
- Comprehensive stakeholder analysis with priority stakeholders and their needs identified.
- Produced in collaboration with the operational team, an objective-driven communications and engagement strategy outlined a comprehensive programme of recommended activities appropriate to the resources and capacity available.
- Audience-focused key message framework with storytelling tactics
- Detailed communications implementation plan.
